It was women who were used in posters and propaganda to encourage the men to fight for their country. This is a false sense of patriotism of the worst kind, a Government deceit which is used in all wars. Wing And A Prayer is a love song but also an anti-war song that reaches out over decades, not speci cally for World War I.
